I've been incredibly lucky over the last couple of months to work on a very exciting project with the fantastic
Cartwheel Arts Organisation. The brief (in collaboration with the hugely talented illustrator
Cath Ford) was to produce illustrations for a series of poems and stories written by a community writing group based in Bury, Greater Manchester for a publication entitled 'Bury As It Were'. The stories and poems spanned decades of memories and celebrated not only the talents of the writers involved but the region of Bury itself; a part of the North West that I didn't know much about but have now come to appreciate and feel a great warmth towards. I feel very proud to have worked on this project and had the pleasure to meet and say thank you to all the writers involved at a special launch of the book last Thursday (31st May 2012). I hope all those involved keep writing and spreading their amazing memories to inspire more people to do so. Here are a selection of illustrations Cath and I produced for the book. If you would like to read the fabulous stories and poems that inspired them you can buy the book from Cartwheel Arts Organisation as well as in selected museums and galleries in Bury.
